Staged in conjunction with St. Cloud Smokin’ Brews, Boats & BBQ – a popular event at Lakefront Park presented by the regeneration programme St. Cloud Main Street that includes a craft beer festival, BBQ competition, live entertainment and a variety of vendors – the double bill of high-speed marine motorsport action is free to watch with extensive viewing from the lakeside.
Around forty amateur personal watercraft riders will be competing and the recently upgraded P1 Panther race boats with their new canopy and 300R Mercury Racing outboard will be seen for the first time in an exhibition event. P1 chief executive Azam Rangoonwala said: “We always look forward to returning to Kissimmee/St. Cloud where we receive such a warm welcome from both the City of St. Cloud and Experience Kissimmee. At Powerboat P1 USA we regard this event as our home town race, with it being close to our Orlando headquarters and the very first venue that we visited in Florida. With its long history of powerboat racing, it’s great to see St. Cloud becoming a premier sports venue in Central Florida.”
Paula Stark at St. Cloud Main Street added: “We are excited to again partner with Powerboat P1 to deliver a great mix of sport and entertainment. The combination of fast and furious on-water action and festival fun will make for a superb day. Situated on the southern shore of the nearly circular East Lake Toho, St. Cloud is an outstanding venue for both racers and spectators.”
The day will begin at 9.00am with P1 AquaX practice and the opening endurance race, followed an hour later by the P1 SuperStock boats taking to the water. All the action will be filmed to be broadcast at a later date as television highlights, including coverage on Fox Sports Florida.
